Span Monitoring

Span Monitoring

What is it?

The span monitoring page provides insight into the real-time condition and historical performance of a specific power line span. The span monitoring page contains information on loading, temperature, dynamic line rating, sag and clearance parameters for a specific line-span. The page can also be used to view historical data and performance of the individual phases on the line-span.

The span monitoring page

Contents

The span page consists of three main elements

The span data plot contains time series data about the span. You can easily use the menu to select which series and for which span-phases you would like to see data for

The meteogram contains weather data for the specific span, allowing you to compare any observations from the span plot with the environmental conditions

The span model shows a digital representation of the individuals span-phases sag and clearance to ground.

How to use

The span monitoring page provides you with real-time and historical data from a specific span, allowing you to easily drill down into the performance of a line and identify problems related to a specific span-phase. The span page can be used to

  • Compare data from different phases on the same span, allowing you to identify differences in temperature, load, sag or clearance.

  • Find critical spans. Use weather data and observations to understand when and why the span is a bottleneck for the powerline.

  • Export data for analysis and comparison with other spans or for integration into other systems.
