summary Vibrational Analysis Heimdall Power provides a service for analyzing vibrations on power lines. Vibrations can be described using a frequency spectrum, which shows the frequency and amplitude of the vibrations. Galloping lines cause high-amplitude, low-frequency vibrations, while aeolian vibrations have lower amplitudes. Our vibration page shows the total vibration by default, which is the root mean square of the acceleration in all three spatial axes. A premium vibration analysis feature is available that allows users to view raw vibrational data in the time or frequency domain. Galloping LineOur Neuron can be used to detect amplitudes & frequencies of vibrations caused by galloping on a power line. Vibrational data will also be connected to other meta data, making it possible to better forecast when there is a high risk of galloping, and what the consequences of galloping might be for the power line itself. Static AnalysisTime aggregated accelerometer values are used to calculate the inclination and roll of the power line. It can also be used to estimate tension and more. Spectral analysisThe acceleration spectrum shows the dominant vibrational frequencies of the line and how long it can be expected to live. Galloping Line Galloping lines are caused by low frequency high amplitude vibrations that might cause damage to the line. Neurons will measure high amplitude in the event of galloping if not placed close to a node point, shown as red dots in the galloping line animation. The suspension points of the line are node points for all vibrational modes, and the node points for higher order vibrational modes are spaced equidistantly along the line. Spacers also affect the modes of vibration and are important to consider for vibrational analysis. Since the suspension points of a line are nodes, it is important to mount the neuron far enough from the suspension point to make it sensitive to low frequency vibrations. Static AnalysisThe inclination of a line is important to estimate the sag and clearance, while roll can reveal difference in sag between lines that are connected by spacers.
